Change Team:
Reminder: B56-2 practices will NOT start next week
by posted 03/27/2020

Boys Grade 5 & 6 - Team 2 Families,

Since I had sent a team update a few weeks back when we hoped the CYSA season might have progressed as normal, I figured I would send another note to reinforce what I assume all of you already know at this point...

The start of the CYSA season is delayed, and practices will NOT be starting next week.

Allen (CYSA President) will continue to keep the CYSA community informed of when we might be able to hit the fields, and I'll follow up with a team-specific email once we are ready to go.  Let's all keep our fingers crossed!

I hope everyone is healthy and as happy as can be, despite the unexpected twist all of our lives have taken.

Welcome Boys Grades 5 & 6 - 2 Team!

Boys Grade 5 & 6 - Team 2 Families,

Welcome to Charlestown Soccer's Spring 2020 travel season!  Most of this should be familiar to you, so hopefully it's a quick read.

Brian Thomas, Nate Blanchet, and I look forward to coaching this great group of boys. Due to variation of registrations between Fall and Spring seasons, the rosters aren't exactly the same as the Fall, but I believe just about all of you have played with everyone else on the team at one point or another.  And I've definitely had the pleasure of coaching everyone at some point in the past.

We currently have a roster of 14 for 9v9 30 minute halves.  We shouldn't need it much, but we can use Town Player Pass to draw up players from team 3 and 4 throughout the season, and I will leverage that as appropriate, such as over school vacation weeks.

Over the course of the season, please keep an eye out for emailed RSVP requests for games (and practices).  They come out 48 hrs before start time, and I sometimes manually push them earlier than that.  The SSU Play mobile app also pushes requests for RSVPs as banners within the app.

Keep in mind that I believe MYSL schedules games without regard for school vacation weeks.  Of course, don't sacrifice family vacations for a CYSA travel game, but if your plans are flexible around school vacations, please try to keep that in mind.

As a reminder, Charlestown Travel Soccer plays in the Middlesex League. Our team will be in Division 2 this season, with our roster composed of players from last season D2, D3, and D4 teams.  Those 3 teams had records of 7-0-2, 8-1-0, and 8-1-0 respectively last Fall.  So I expect we should be competitive in D2 this season.

The game schedule won't be released by MYSL until the end of March. Directions to the fields are available through the reminder emails, in the SSU Play mobile app (this typically requires you to log out and back in each season to get linked up to the right team), and on our team's page on the CYSA website at:

You can add the schedule to your Google Calendar, iPhone, Outlook, or other electronic calendaring tool via the link: webcal://www.LeagueAthletics.com/Feeds/ICal/?teams=609287&org=charlestownsoccer.com

I put our first two weeks of practices into the schedule, so if you see those pop up for the week of March 30th and April 6th, you did it correctly, and it will just track automatically from there.

Our practices are Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:50pm-8pm.  I believe we will be in the corner by the community garden.

Our first game will be Saturday April 11th.Please double check your equipment sooner rather than later.  Please bring shin guards and a water bottle to practices. Cleats are strongly suggested.  If possible, please have your own personal size 4 soccer ball that you bring to practice (with your name written on it). You can reuse your uniform from previous seasons, but double check that it still fits. If you need a new one, and you didn't order it as part of your registration (which you can check under your account page on our website), you can order replacements at http://store.charlestownsoccer.com.  Replacing the jersey takes a few weeks, so if you need a new one of those, place your order ASAP!

We look forward to a great season!  I'll be back in touch over the coming 3 weeks before practices start up!
